On the 7th of April 2017 a 21 year old man, Sinothando Ndwandwa was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment at the Cradock Regional Court. The accused was sentenced as follows:
Count one – 15 years for robbing a 7 year old child of R300.00.
Count two – 15 years and for Robbery with aggravating circumstances which he committed while out on bail.
He robbed a cell phone from the victim and stabbed him with a knife. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
The investigating officer in the case was Detective Constable Siyabonga Ntsimango, from Cradock CID.
Colonel John Titi, the Station Commander of Cradock Police Station welcomed the sentences that were handed down by the court and said that this will serve as a warning to all criminals out there that the SAPS is serious in its fight against crime.
