PORT ELIZABETH - VIGILANTE ATTACK SUSPECTED AFTER BURNT BODY FOUND IN BUSHES


The burnt body of an unknown male was found at about 16:00 yesterday, 07 March 2019 in a bushy area bordering Koliti Street, Ikamvelihle.

It is unknown how many perpetrators were involved in this murder or what the motive was for the murder. The SAPS are suspecting this murder to have been committed as a vigilante attack and killing by an unknown group of the community.

Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie strongly condemned this killing and said "Community must refrain from taking the law into their own hands to commit assaults and murders on other persons or suspected criminals. Persons taking part in vigilante killings (mob justice) immediately becomes killers themselves.

Manor General Rabie further stated that the SAPS will not tolerate these murders and will arrest and institute murder prosecution against such persons.
