Port Elizabeth Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) is once again looking for Megan Diedericks (25 years) who failed to appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on 5 March 2019.
Diedericks was arrested for the alleged kidnapping of Nefrin Lucraine Roberts (3-years-old) on 04 January 2019 from a beach in Summerstrand.
According to police information, the child was at the beach in Summerstrand (near Something Good) with his grandmother, Lucinda Roberts (52). They were waiting for the child’s mother. While there, a woman introduced herself as Meagan from Shauderville struck up a conversation with the grandmother and after a while both women went across to the nearby shopping centre to buy liquor.
They went back to the beach and waited for the child’s mother who never arrived. The two women stayed on the beach and a while later, about 18:00, Diedericks went back to the shopping centre to buy cigarettes. She took the child with her and never returned.
The incident was reported to police on 05 January 2019. On 06 January 2019, Diedericks was arrested in a shack in Victoria Drive in PE.
She failed to appear in court and a warrant for her arrest has been issued.
Anyone who can assist police in tracing Ms Diedericks is asked to contact D/W/O Grant Measures at FCS on 072 732 4220 or 041 401 3001 or their nearest police station.
