PORT ELIZABETH - WANTED MURDER & ROBBERY SUSPECT APPREHENDED NEAR MISSIONVALE


A murder suspect, Siphelele Lincen Gxasheka (19) was arrested on Friday, 05 April 2019, while walking in Goniwe Street in Zinyoka area near Missionvale. It is alleged that a member of the public spotted the suspect after recognising his picture published in a newspaper in January 2019. The anonymous person contacted the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Xolani Peta,
who immediately acted on the information. The suspect fitting the description was spotted and arrested.

It is alleged on 15 August 2018, at about 06:15, Adrian Kammies (32) and his fiancĂ© were at their Reconciliation Street home in Kleinskool when the suspect came to the house and started to kick the door.  They ran into the bedroom and tried to block the door to keep it shut. Shots were fired from outside through the open window as well as through the bedroom door. Kammies sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the scene. The front door was also forced opened. Gxasheka was linked through forensic evidence. A warrant of arrest was issued against him. He will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 April 2019 on a charge of murder.

Gxasheka is also wanted for a house robbery which allegedly took place in New Brighton in September 2018. It is alleged that on 18 September 2018 at about 19:25 two unknown men entered the house in Mhlaba Street and threatened the victim with a firearm. A plasma TV, a sound system and 2 cellphones were taken. A warrant of arrest was also issued for Gxasheka. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 09 April 2019 on a charge of house robbery.

Since January 2019, several wanted suspects from Motherwell, Mount Road and Uitenhage clusters have been arrested after their photos were published in the newspapers. Suspects wanted for crimes such as murder, house and business robberies and illegal possession of firearm and drugs are now behind bars.

The Cluster Commander for Motherwell, Major General Dawie Rabie commended the communities who have taken note of the publication of these wanted persons. ‘The picture of this wanted person was published in January and the person who called recognised him from that publication. We are very appreciative of our partnership with the media in the Nelson Mandela Metro. We urge the communities to take note of these suspects as they are mingling within your communities and continue to commit serious and violent crimes,’ added Maj Gen Rabie.
