A Port Elizabeth truck driver and his passenger had a lucky escape when shots were fired at his vehicle after he passed through a Stop and Go section on the R-75 outside Uitenhage.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said that the incident happened on Thursday morning when the 33-year-old driver and passenger was en route from Port Elizabeth to Graaff-Reinet to deliver liquor.
She said that they had driven through the Stop and Go section when an unknown man appeared in the road and fired shots at the truck.
Swart said the driver sped off and stopped a while later when the police were contacted.
She said no one was injured in the incident but the delivery vehicle was hit by several bullets.
Motorists have been warned to be alert in that area.
