Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 23-year old man soon after police responded to a shooting incident in the Arcadia area.Spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu says members of the Visible Gang Intervention Team were searching a sports bar late on Friday evening when they saw the suspect running to the back of the bar.
She says police gave chase and noticed him throwing something through the security gate.
They found a Z88 pistol and a .38 revolver in the yard, and the suspect was arrested.
Col Naidu says investigations revealed that the pistol belonged to a Sergeant who was robbed of his firearm and vehicle in Kwanobuhle earlier this month, while the revolver belongs to East Cape Gun Traders in Walmer.
The suspect is being detained on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrate's court on Monday.
