PORT ELIZABETH - GROUP OF ARMED MEN STORM AND ROB WALMER POST OFFICE

The Walmer Post office on the corner of 8th Avenue and Water Road in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, has been robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says that shortly after 11 am on Monday morning, a group of four to seven men entered the Walmer Post Office and threatened a 34-year-old Post Office employee with a firearm.

They ordered him to take them to the manager who was then forced to open the safe.

The robbers then fled with the cash and on their way out, hijacked a vehicle entering the premises.

Warrant Officer Labans says the Nissan NP200 bakkie was recovered shortly after the incident in Central.

No one was injured and no arrests have yet been made.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery and hijacking.
