PORT ELIZABETH - INNOCENT LITTLE GIRL SHOT AND WOUNDED DURING KOBUS ROAD GANG BATTLE

A four-year-old Port Elizabeth girl is in hospital after being hit in the back when rival gangsters fired shots at each other on Sunday.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the incident happened just before 1 pm in Kobus Road in Gelvandale where the child had been playing.

She said it is alleged that members of the “NTB gang” were involved in a shoot-out with members of a rival gang when the little girl was hit by a stray bullet.

“The child was taken home which is not far off and was transported to hospital by ambulance,” Naidu said.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major-General Andries Swart immediately implemented the 72 hour activation plan and he has assured the community that a team of dedicated officers has been assigned to hunt down the perpetrators.

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
