EASTERN CAPE - 3 SUSPICIOUS ACTING MEN GET ARRESTED WITH STOLEN MEAT IN PLASTIC BAGS

Police arrested three men for possession of suspected stolen property (meat) during their routine crime prevention duties in Humansdorp on 09-08-2019.

On Friday, 09 August 2019 around 4pm, it is alleged that police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties in Penny Lane, Humansdorp, when they saw three men carrying bags, who started acting suspicious on seeing the police vehicle.   Members accosted and asked to search the trio. Inside the two bags, police found raw meat and the three men instead of providing explanation chose to remain silent.

The three men were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property. The trio aged between 18 and 49 are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 August 2019 on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.  A team of detectives from Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit are currently profiling the suspects.

Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok lauded the members for the good work.  “The Rural Safety Strategy includes regular patrols near farms and abattoirs to curb stock theft incidents”, added Brig Lebo.
