EASTERN CAPE - SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTOUT WITH POLICE WHEN ELDERLY WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN A POOL OF BLOOD IN HER HOME

 Police are investigating a case of murder following the discovery of an elderly woman at her home early this morning 02 August 2019, in Cathcart.

Neighbours noticed that the door was bent and unknown males running away from the house.

Police were summoned and on arrival to the house they found the lifeless woman in a pool of blood. 

The SAPS 72 hour plan was activated and shortly thereafter one of the suspects was identified and during an attempt to arrest him shots were exchanged. A suspect was arrested with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He later succumbed to his injuries.
