PORT ELIZABETH - LATEST CRIME SPREE SEES A SURGE IN PE BUSINESS ROBBERIES OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS

Port Elizabeth police are urging business owners to become more security conscious, following reports of a number of business robberies over the past few days.

Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says in one of the incidents, it is alleged that a tavern in Sulo Street in Walmer was robbed of liquor and cash on Thursday by five unknown armed men.

She says on the same day, another business was allegedly robbed in Korsten where the suspects took money and a vehicle.

The vehicle was later recovered in New Brighton.

Janse van Rensburg says on Friday, a liquor outlet in Walker Drive, Sherwood was robbed of cash.

She says the suspects fled in a grey Nissan NP200 bakkie with tinted windows.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police are urging business owners to make arrangements with security companies to do frequent patrols during quiet times - both during the day and night.
