DESPATCH - 2 MEN MURDERED IN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING OUTSIDE OF TAVERN

Police are seeking help from the public in solving double murder case after two men were fatally shot in an apparent drive-by shooting in front of a tavern in Despatch last night.

On Friday, 06 September 2019 around 11:30pm, it is alleged that at least one passenger in a white VW Polo fired several shots to the two men, who were standing on the roadside as the vehicle drove past. The incident occurred in front of a tavern in Xolile Bottoman Street, Despatch. 

One of the victims died at the scene, while a second one ran to the premises of a house opposite a tavern, where he collapsed and died. The names of the deceased are Skhumbuzo Lucas (42) and Xolani Skweyiya (43).

Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Leigh Jacobs at 074 999 8707. The information may also be shared anonymously via Crime Stop 08600 10111.
