Centane Police arrested a 32-year-old man for alleged rape of a 74-year-old woman. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 03 September 2019.It is alleged that the suspect went to the homestead of the victim on Monday, 02 September 2019 at about 11:20 at Khwane Locality, Qolorha By Sea Village, Centane. The suspect allegedly demanded money from the victim. When he was told that there is no money, the suspect accosted the 74-year-old woman and raped her. The victim was alone at the time but she managed to identify her attacker.
The suspect is due to appear before the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 04 September 2019 on a charge of rape.
Eastern Cape Police Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga condemned the alleged rape of a 74-year-old elderly woman. She applauded the Centane Police for their swift action in arresting the suspect.
