EASTERN CAPE - POLICE ARREST 3 SUSPECTS CAUGHT WITH 2 ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION

Three male suspects were arrested and two firearms recovered after an intelligence driven operation that was conducted by East London Detectives.

The arrest follows after members acted on information which has led them to NU15, Mdantsane where a 23-year-old suspect was arrested in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Further interview with the suspect took the detectives to Peelton village where two suspects aged 25 and 30 were arrested and a revolver with one live round was recovered.

Both firearms have serial numbers which will be checked for ownership. Investigation is still continuing.

Two counts of Possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition cases have been opened at the relevant stations. These suspects are linked with business robberies that recently took place in East London.

All suspects will appear in the East London Magistrate Court on 2019-10-24.
