South Africa's unemployment rate has climbed to 29,1%.
This is the highest in 11 years.
Statistician general made the announcement while releasing the quarterly labour force survey.
The unemployment rate increased by 0,1 of a percentage point to 29,1% in the 3rd quarter of 2019 compared to the 2nd quarter of 2019.
The number of employed persons increased by 62 000 while the number of unemployed persons increased by 78 000 resulting in an increase of 141 000 in the labour force.
Formal sector employment increased by 43 000, Agriculture increased by 38 000 and Private household increased by 35 000 while the informal sector shed 53 000 job during this period.
