Over the past weekend, additional manpower within the SAPS support service environment were deployed to assist with crime prevention duties in the Uitenhage Cluster.
Several successful operations were also conducted which yielded good results.
During the past week, a total of 186 suspects were arrested on charges ranging from attempted murder, house breaking and theft, robbery aggravating, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and theft.
Twenty-one (21) suspects were arrested for illegal possession of drugs. 75 Traffic related fines were issued, valued at R37 500-00 and one person was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of liquor.
Detectives arrested more than 48 suspects during the past week, for crimes ranging from robbery, theft, contravention of protection orders, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, house breaking and theft, etc.
The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll said: “Members from the South African Police Service will continue with their actions to address crime effectively and SAPS will enforce the law against those breaking it during this festive season”.
