Police arrested about 42 suspects aged between 18 and 45 over the weekend. Police conducted several operations until this morning and managed to arrest suspects for various crimes ranging from common assault, business robbery, public violence, contravention of protection order, burglary and theft, drunk and disorderly, intimidation, malicious damage to property and possession of drugs.
During the operations a 56-year-old female was arrested for selling liquor without licence and the outlet was closed down by Police and liquor was confiscated. In an operation dubbed “Blue Lamp,” Zwelitsha Police conducted a stop and search where they confiscated dangerous weapons while King Williams Town Police arrested two males for drunken driving.
Detectives also conducted a suspect raiding operation within the Cluster until early hours today at about 03h00 and managed to arrest twenty five (25) suspects for assault, contravention of protection order, using motor vehicle without owner’s consent, theft, rape and warrant of arrest.
These suspects will all appear in various Magistrate’s Courts today, 28 January 2020 and tomorrow, 29 January 2020.
The King William’s Town SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga applauded the members for their job well done and encouraged the members to continue with these operations. “Let us create a safe and secure environment for all and ensure that the perpetrators are behind bars” he added.
