Ngcobo Police are investigating a culpable homicide case. It is alleged that a taxi that was from Western Cape lost control along R61 road near Beyeye Locality, Manzana Village, Ngcobo on Monday, 13 January 2020 at about 05:00.The taxi rolled fatally injuring five (05) passengers who are believed to be children between five (5) and 14 years of age. Sixteen (16) others including the driver were seriously injured and all rushed to the hospital at Ngcobo. The identities of all the deceased are still being withheld as some of their relatives are yet to be informed of their deaths.
The actual cause of the fatal accident is not known but under the investigation of Ngcobo Police detectives.
Acting Eastern Cape Police Provincial Commissioner, Major General Andries Swart conveyed his condolences to all the families who have lost their beloved relatives. He wished the injured a speedy recovery.
