EASTERN CAPE - POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR ESCAPED RAPIST

Willowvale Police are hot on the heels of an awaiting trial prisoner who escaped on Saturday, 08 February 2020 at about 12h35.

It is alleged that two awaiting prisoners namely Sinalo (Banana) Ndabeni aged 28 who was charged for common assault and Ntando Zenzile aged 28 who was charged for rape escaped while assisting police in fetching drinking water. Both handcuffed prisoners escaped while police were feeding them. Sinalo Ndabeni was later rearrested at Willowvale. An internal probe into how the prisoners escaped will be established.

A Task Team has been established to look for Ntando Zenzile. A case of escaping from lawful custody has been opened against the prisoners. A second case of aiding an escape has been opened against the members who were feeding the prisoners. Any member of the public who has seen the escapee is urged to not try apprehend him but immediately contact Willowvale Police Station -047 499 6234.
