PORT ELIZABETH - WANTED SUSPECT ARRESTED AT ALGOA PARK FLATS

Within 4 hours after circulating a wanted suspect through the media, Rhett Els (47) was arrested outside a block of flats in Keurboom Crescent in Algoa Park.

According to information, after hearing on the radio that Els is wanted, a person contacted SAPS Algoa Park and alerted them to his whereabouts. He was arrested by Algoa Park detectives while he was busy fixing a vehicle.

He will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on a charge of attempted murder. The complainant’s car was not with him at the time of the arrest.

Mount Road Cluster Commander, Maj Gen Thembisile Patekile expressed his appreciation to the media who assisted in tracing the wanted person.

‘The media plays a pivotal role in the fight against crime by assisting the SAPS in reporting successes, matters of public interest as well as circulating wanted suspects.  We thank them for their partnership and within 4 hours after circulating him, he was arrested,’ added Maj Gen Patekile.
