Port Elizabeth police are searching for at least six armed suspects who robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle in Newton Park on Friday afternoon.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Brenda Muridili says it is alleged that the CIT vehicle bumped into a car in front of it at one of the robots at around 15:00.

She says the suspects jumped from a nearby van and threatened to bomb the CIT vehicle.

They managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Muridili says no-one was injured during the incident.
