PORT ELIZABETH - EMS WORKERS STAGE PROTEST OUTSIDE CITY HALL FOLLWING FEARS AFTER VICIOUS AMBULANCE ATTACK IN WALMER

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Interim Mayor Councillor Thsonono Buyeye has promised Emergency Medical Services workers to engage the Department of Health and South African Police Services concerning their safety fears following the attack on ambulance drivers this week in Walmer.

This comes after EMS workers downed tools and staged a brief protest outside the City Hall on Friday as the Virtual Special Council Meeting was about to convene.

The Speaker of Council Buyelwa Mafaya had to delay Council proceedings for her and the Executive Mayor to attend to protesting EMS workers.

Mayor Buyeye wished the injured EMS worker a speedy recovery.
