Uitenhage Provincial Hospital staffers have are protesting for the second day in a row this week.
Complaints over lack of transparency, provision of PPE and no risk assessment policy having been done are some of the complaints from the staffers
Nehawu says the employee was told to continue working regardless of his known chronic condition.
During a meeting with the union on Thursday, the hospital's acting CEO said he would step down but district health manager Darlene De Vos said they had not accepted his letter yet.
De Vos said the department would meet union leaders to discuss the challenges at UPH.
Nehawu branch convener Nico Nelson announces they'll be meeting with the district at 11am today.
Nelson says another staff member at the hospital, who had continued working while waiting for their #COVID_19 results received a positive diagnosis.
Nelson accuses hospital management of being negligent with workers lives. "17 of our members here had tested positive so now this brings the number to 18 while four have already recovered."
