NELSON MANDELA BAY - MUNICIPALITY UPDATES ON COEGA & SURROUNDING AREAS WATER OUTAGES

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Engineering Councillor Mongameli Bobani would like to inform residents and businesses of the emergency plans in place to repair leaking water infrastructure and restore water supply to the Coega, Kinkelbos and Colchester areas.

This comes after the repair work which was completed on Tuesday, 25 August 2020, failed due to adverse weather conditions and rain leading to another water shutdown in the area.

“Due to material manufacturing timeframes the City could not attend to the leaks immediately however we would like to assure residents and businesses that various options are being explored simultaneously to find a long term solution to the problem,” he said.

With the interim solution underway, water supply is expected to be restored on Saturday while the long term solution explored is promising to restore water supply on Tuesday, 1 September 2020.

“Residents are safe with water supply for now, the City has put in place plans to dispatch water tankers to assist, should the need arise. The City is currently assisting businesses in Coega and Markman.”

“We would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and reiterate that these repairs are necessary to avoid future water outages,” MMC Bobani said.
