PORT ELIZABETH - ADMIN CLERK FOUND GUILTY OF MISAPPROPRIATING NEARLY R150 000 OF COMPANY MONEY TO HER PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT
A 51-year-old, Coleen Ferreira, was convicted in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate court on Wednesday following her arrest by the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation on charges of fraud and forgery.
Ferreira was employed as administration clerk at Environmental Occupational Health (EOH), a company in Port Elizabeth.
During December 2016 to February 2019, Ferreira misappropriated about R149 007 in petty cash money which she transferred to her personal account with an intent to steal.
She was arrested on the 09 June 2020 on 3 counts of fraud and 32 counts of forgery.
On 28 July 2020 she was founded guilty by the court pending her sentencing on Wednesday.
Ferreira was sentenced for 3 years correctional supervision and 5 years imprisonment suspended for 5 years.
