Grahamstown High Court convicted and sentenced a 36-year-old man, Kwanele Mqeni, to twenty years imprisonment.
He was found guilty for the murder of his mother, who was aged 74. He was sentenced on Friday, 04 September 2020 in Grahamstown.
It is alleged that the accused was arrested for assaulting his family members at Diphini Locality, Mooiplaas Village, East London during the month of July 2019.
The mother of the accused submitted a statement to the East London Magistrate’s Court that her son be released out on warning, Monday, 02 September 2019.
During the night of that Monday, 02 September 2019, the accused stabbed his mother multiple times and she passed away at the scene.
He also attacked his disabled elder brother however, his brother was rescued by the community members.
