EASTERN CAPE - EC CIT ROBBERY SUSPECT WHO EVADED THE LAW FOR OVER A YEAR IS FINALLY ARRESTED IN CENTURION

A 40-year-old alleged cash-in-transit robber who absconded from the law for a year was arrested in Centurion, Pretoria on Tuesday.


Mpho Modise (40) briefly appeared in the Libode Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after he was arrested in a joint operation by Gauteng Tracing team and Pretoria Crime Intelligence.

Modise and other three suspects are accused for their alleged involvement in a 2018 cash-in-transit robbery at Mdlankomo AA Section, Libode.

During their arrest in Sasolburg, an undisclosed amount of cash and a number of firearms were seized.

Bail was successfully opposed but later the four suspects were released on R20 000-00 bail.

Modise decided not to attend any court proceedings and a warrant of arrest was authorised by the court for his arrest.

He is expected to appear in the same court on 02 November 2020 whilst in custody.
