On Friday, 09 October 2020 at the Mount Fletcher Magistrate Court, 19 year old Philani Ntanjana was sentenced to 20 years Imprisonment for rape.
It is alleged that on 27 May 2019 at Mangoloaneng locality Mount Fletcher the 26 year old victim was at her home.
At about 20:00 in the evening three suspects knocked at the door requesting her to come outside as they were busy collecting money.
She then went outside and was followed by one of the men who grabbed her throw her to the ground and raped her while the others were watching.
The neighbour that heard her crying came to her rescue and took her to her relatives.
The case was opened and Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses took over the investigations. The suspect was arrested on the 30 May 2019. He received bail until the finalization of the case.
The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph commended the Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Zuko Mnothoza on the professional investigation of the case that led to the conviction and sentence of the accused.
