EASTERN CAPE - BREAKTHROUGH MADE IN FORT BEAUFORT ARSON CASE AFTER FARMHOUSE LOOTED OF FIREARMS AND BURNT OUT
A 29-year-old male suspect was arrested on 24 January 2021 and is expected to appear in Fort Beaufort Magistrate's Court on Monday, 25 January 2021 facing charges of arson and housebreaking.
The suspect was arrested following a 72-hour reaction plan that was activated to search for the suspect/suspects behind the incident of arson and housebreaking at a Fort Beaufort farmhouse where an unconfirmed number of firearms were allegedly stolen from the safe.
Fort Beaufort SAPS responded to a call received at their Community Service Centre about a housebreaking at 2:30 early Sunday morning, 24 January 2021. When police arrived, they found the house engulfed in flames.
No one has been injured, including the owner, who was away at the time of incident.
More arrests are imminent and investigation continues.
