PORT ELIZABETH - SEARCH LAUNCHED FOR DANGEROUS WANTED MURDER SUSPECT AFTER VICTIM IS KIDNAPPED AND KILLED
The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation (Gang Investigation) in Port Elizabeth has issued a warrant for the arrest of a murder suspect who has been evading police since December 2020.
It is alleged that on 13 December 2020 at about 08:00, Chester Williams (24) was kidnapped by three gang members in Fitchard Street in Helenvale.
Friends of Williams approached the suspects and begged them to release Williams as he was not involved in any gang activity.
While they were negotiating with the suspects,
Williams managed to free himself and ran. Darren Lee Witbooi fired several shots at the fleeing Williams.
He was shot multiple times and died on the scene.
Whitebooi resides in Leith Street and since the incident, he cannot be found.
Anyone who can assist police in tracing Whitebooi is asked to contact the investigating officer D/Sgt Xolani Sokanyile on 082 442 2270 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station. All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous.
