EASTERN CAPE - DANGEROUS ARMED SUSPECTS SHOOT WILDY INTO CROWD KILLING 3 AFTER SHOP ROBBERY

Police are searching for three dangerous suspects who allegedly robbed a store and killed three people on Tuesday evening, 22 June 2021 at Esikwayini Locality, in Qumbu.

Information suggests that three armed balaclava-clad suspects arrived at a local store and demanded money from the shop owner who became intimidated and complied. As suspects were running out of the shop, one of them was seen hiding a gun at his back. It is further alleged that other suspects became suspicious and started firing on the bystanders outside, some of whom were sitting around the fireplace.

During the incident, one of the suspects allegedly fell on the fire and as a result sustained injuries but managed to escape. Four people aged between 30 and 45 were shot, three of them died at the scene while one had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Cases of Business Robbery, Attempted Murder and Murder have been opened for investigation. No arrest has been made at this stage.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga expressed shock and dismay at the cold blooded killing of innocent people and immediately ordered the detectives not to sleep to ensure that the culprits find their home behind the prison bars.
