On 19 July 2021 just after 06:15, a 34-year-old female was hit by a train while she wanted to cross the railway line at Despatch station.
The woman is believed to be working at a crèche close by and while she was attempting to cross the railway lines, an incoming train from Gqeberha bumped her.
She passed away on the scene.
Her name cannot be released until her next of kin have been informed.
An inquest case was opened at Despatch SAPS.
