SAPS management has expressed shock and dismay of the brutal killing of a 71-year-old man on Friday night 02 July 2021 at Zingqoloweni locality, in Lady Frere.
According to the information the neighbour of the deceased heard the dogs barking outside and on investigation he saw a suspected man leaving the house of the deceased.
Police were summoned and on arrival they found the deceased with multiple stab wounds on the upper body, with his throat slit.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated. A case of murder has been opened.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has ordered a 72 hour activation plan to mobilize all necessary resources for effective investigation and speedy arrest of the suspect (s).
Lieutenant General Ntshinga has further called an urgent meeting with all the operational commanders in order to work out a plan to deal with the situation at Zingqolweni as part of amplifying SAPS efforts in that area.
