GQEBERHA - POLICE ISSUE STERN WARNING TO PUBLIC AFTER MOHAIR WORTH R100 000 IS STOLEN IN NORTH END

 Police in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro are warning people to think twice before buying or receiving stolen property as they will find themselves on the wrong side of the law if found in possession of the suspected stolen property.

This warning is issued after a mohair company in North End was robbed yesterday afternoon. 

It is alleged that at about 16:30, the complainant (60) was locking the premises when two unknown males entered and on pretence offered to sell mohair to the company. 

The complainant informed them to come back the following day as the owner was not in. 

While they were in the process of exchanging details, the suspects followed the complainant into the office and threatened him. 

He was tied up and his face covered.

Six bales of mohair were loaded onto a trailer and driven off the premises. 

One bale was recovered in Paterson Road as it had fallen off. 

The estimated value of the stolen mohair is R100 000.

A case of business robbery is under investigation.

Acting Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Brig Ronald Koll is urging the communities to reject and report any goods that is suspected to be stolen. ‘As thieves go about stealing goods to meet the demand for stolen goods, they commit other crimes along the way. Always ensure that purchases are made with reputable retailers. If a person is caught with a suspected stolen item irrespective whether it was paid for, the item will be seized by police. Never buy expensive goods at bargain prices from dealers with dubious credentials or from any unknown person,’ added Brig Koll.
