NELSON MANDELA BAY | GROENDAL DAM LEVELS RISE TO 24% AFTER HEAVY RAINFALL THIS WEEKEND


Nelson Mandela Bay Ecexutive Mayor, Retief Oodendal took to social media to celebrate Groendal dam's increased lveles after heavy rain hit the metro. In a statement Oodendaal said

"More good news! ðŸ¤©ðŸ’¦☔️ Last week Monday (the 8th), the Groendal Dam was sitting at 17,03 % of total capacity. We have seen an encouraging inflow since the weekend and as a result Groendal has increased to 24,08% of total capacity!"

Struggling with the effects of an ongoing drought, Nelson Mandela Bay received welcomed rainfall this past weekend.


Over one thousand people have been evacuated due to flooding.

The affected residents have been accommodated in various halls, schools and churches.

Low-lying areas in KwaZakhele, Motherwell, New Brighton and Walmer were most affected by the floods.
