EASTERN CAPE - MANHUNT LAUNCHED FOR 12 DANGEROUS SUSPECTS WHO ESCAPED FROM MOUNT FRERE POLICE STATION

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Zithulele Moses Dladla has instructed the immediate implementation of the 72 hour activation plan after 12 prisoners  escaped from SAPS Mount Frere cells during the early hours of this morning, 30 September 2021.


According to information on hand, it is alleged that at about 02:00, while SAPS members were conducting their routine hourly cell visit, they discovered a hole in the wall of a cell and 12 prisoners escaped through the hole. On further investigation, it was established that perimeter fence near the cell block was also cut. 

Police are warning the community that these prisoners are dangerous and should not be approached instead police must be contacted. The following escapees are sought:

1.Luthando Mangaliso-Rape

2.Sikhona Manyambela Ntabankulu - Robbery Aggravated

3.Funisile Nodada Ntabankulu- Robbery Aggravated

4.Ntokozo Diko Ntabankulu-  Robbery Aggravated

5.Mandla Mcukana Mt Frere - Robbery Aggravated

6.Bandile Banzi Blaai -  Robbery  Aggravated

7.Aphelele Aros - Robbery

8.Nkosikhona Ngcopheni- Theft

9.Ayanda Madzikane - Robbery Aggravated

10.Luphumzo Sodladls -  Burglary Ress

11.Mbonowenkosi Boto  - Robbery Aggravated

12. Spelele Ngqetho - Robbery Aggravating

Once photos of the escapees become available, they will be circulated.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of these criminals is asked to contact the Mount Frere Station Commander, Colonel Fundiswa Mhlamanzana on 0824992480 or 039 2550550 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station. All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous.

The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation is investigating a case of Escaping from Lawful Custody.

An internal probe will also be conducted.

Maj Gen Dladla has warned the communities not to harbour or protect these criminals as they will be committing an offence if found to be aiding and abetting them. ‘We appeal to the communities to keep an alert eye out for these criminals who are dangerous and to work closely with us to ensure their speedy arrests,’ added Maj Gen Dladla
