GQEBERHA - OFF-DUTY COPS APPREHEND SUSPECT WHO RAPED & INDECENTLY ASSAULTED 2 TEEN BOYS

Three detective Sergeants from the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation in Gqeberha (Gang Investigation) were on their way home yesterday evening, 07 September 2021 when they stopped to investigate a crowd chasing a person.

It is alleged that at about 18:00, the members were driving near the robots at Kwadwesi, when they noticed an unknown male being chased by a group of people. 

Immediately, the officials reacted and went to investigate. 

The crowd alleged that the pursued male is an alleged rape suspect.

It is further alleged that on 3 September 2021 at about 18:00, the two victims aged 16 and 17-years-old teenage boys were on their way to the shop in Kwanoxolo when they were surprised by the suspect in an open field in Extension 36. 

The suspect threatened them with a knife and the 16-year-old boy was sexually assaulted while the 17-year-old male was raped. 

The suspect also robbed them of their money. Yesterday, 7 September 2021, the victims recognised the suspect hence the pursuit by the community.

The officials arrested the suspect and detained him on a charge of rape and robbery. He is expected to appear in the Gqeberha magistrate court on Thursday, 9 September 2021.
