On Thursday afternoon, 09 December 2021, SAPS Gelvandale detectives arrested a 44-year-old Malabar man who was evading arrest since October 2021, for an alleged crimen injuria case opened by his ex-wife against him.
It is alleged that Bernard Chetty allegedly made pejorative and derogatory overtones (with pics) against his ex-wife through various social media platforms.
The 34-year-old woman who is now living in Gauteng opened a case against him at SAPS Lenasia.
A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued and was successfully executed yesterday after police approached him for another case which he opened against his ex-wife in October.
Chetty appeared in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court this morning and is remanded in custody to appear in the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 December 2021.
As the investigation unfolds, further charges may be added against him.
