On Monday 13 December 2021, the Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sentenced Charles Matthew Rhodes (50) to three (3) years correctional supervision and 5 years imprisonment wholly suspended for 5 years for charges of fraud on condition that he is not convicted for the same offence again.
During the period between 2000 and 2006, Rhodes as an employee of Alphatec CC, misappropriated funds of the business for personal gain in that he used company funds for his personal expenses to an amount of R355 000-00.
After an intensive investigation by the Gqeberha based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team, Rhodes was arrested on 15 February 2017 where he was released on warning.
After a series of court appearances Rhodes was convicted on the 09 November 2021 and sentenced on the 13 December 2021.
