Mbasa Voyi (39) was found guilty and sentenced by the Commercial Crime Court, in Gqeberha on a several charges of fraud and theft on 20 January 2022, following his arrest that dates back to October 2017.
Voyi in his capacity as manager at Future Corp in Gqeberha, misappropriated funds of his employer over the period between May 2013 and April 2014.
The probe by the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team revealed that Voyi fraudulently created false loans with the intent to steal.
Consequently, the court ordered that he compensate his employer with R5000 per month until R167 500 has been paid in full.
Furthermore he was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment wholly suspended for 5 years on condition that he is not convicted of theft or fraud during the period of suspension and declared unfit to possess a firearm
