A 28-year-old man was found guilty at Cacadu Regional Court on Wednesday 23 March 2022.
During August 2021, a 19-year-old woman was on her way home at Maqhashu Administrative Area when she met the suspect who raped her
A case of rape was opened and the docket was assigned to Detective Constable Noncedo Zweni for investigation.
Zweni sacrificed many hours during investigation until she arrested the suspect.
On Wednesday 23 March 2022 the case was finalized and Masibenabo Matwa was sentenced to undergo 15 years imprisonment.
Chris Hani Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Zuziwe Magqashela congratulated the investigating officer and said she understand the complexity of the investigation and the challenges that she encountered.
She extend profound thanks to the prosecution team who worked with the victim and the investigating officer.
