Gqeberha police are investigating the murder of a man who was shot dead in Central on Wednesday afternoon.
Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said 42-year-old Alex Ibeka and a friend had just left a restaurant and were getting into his black VW Golf when the gunman struck.
She said the assailant was on the driver's side of the vehicle and fired multiple shots at Ibeka, who managed to drive away but collided with another car.
Janse Van Rensburg said he was rushed to a hospital where he died.
The friend fled the vehicle.
The motive for the shooting is not yet known and police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist their investigation, to contact their nearest police station.
