GQEBERHA | NO FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED AFTER PIETER DE VILLIERS WIFE'S BODY IS FOUND FLOATING IN FAIRVIEW POOL
The body of the wife of Peter de Villiers, a former Springbok rugby coach, was found floating in a swimming pool in Fairview, Gqeberha, on Monday afternoon, police said.
The body of 62-year-old Theresa de Villiers was found in the pool at a house in Redbud Street at noon.
"The deceased is from Paarl, but was visiting family in Gqeberha. She was found in the pool by a family member. No foul play is suspected.
"The circumstances surrounding the drowning is under investigation," police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said.
Political party GOOD, who elected De Villiers as a councillor last year, extended condolences to the family in a Facebook post.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. May strength, peace, love surround you as you and your family go through this difficult time."
De Villiers also lost his daughter, Odille Monk, 28, to cancer in December 2019.
