GQEBERHA | HIJACKING TURNS TO MURDER AFTER A BURNT BODY IS DISCOVERED NEXT TO CAR

SAPS Kwadwesi detectives are investigating a case of vehicle hijacking and murder after the body of an unknown female was found burnt and lying next to a car on Perseverance Road this morning, 5 March 2023.

It is alleged that at about 22:00 last night, a 42-year-old man left a tavern in Kwadwesi Extension with an unknown female. 

They drove to Chelsea Road in Perseverance and while they were in the vehicle, they were approached by two unknown men in a red Toyota Tazz.

It is further alleged that the couple were shoved into the boot of the Ford Figo, belonging to the complainant, were driven around by the suspects. 

At some stage, the vehicle stopped in Samcay on the gravel road (Perseverance). 

The complainant alleged that he was driven to an ATM in Algoa Park and when there was no money in the account, the suspects threatened him and dropped him off.

The complainant reported the incident at SAPS Algoa Park. 

The vehicle, the Ford Figo was recovered by Tracker.

When police arrived at the scene, the woman was found lying outside the vehicle and the vehicle completely burnt. 

At this stage, the identity of the woman is unknown.

Police are investigating a case of vehicle hijacking and murder.
