Three suspects alleged to have hijacked a driver of his Renault Kwid were arrested three hours later this morning, 04 April 2023, by alert members from SAPS Mount Road.
According to police information, it is alleged that at approximately 05:30, the driver responded to a request to pick up a client in Pearson Street. In Pearson Street, four people got into the vehicle (two females and two males).
While on route in Hartman Street, the driver was pointed with a firearm and forced out of the car.
The suspects drove off with the vehicle.
While conducting crime prevention operations, SAPS Mount Road were alerted of the hijacking and at approximately 08:30, they recovered the vehicle in Old Grahamstown Road in Deal Party.
Three suspects, aged between 20 and 30 years old were arrested.
The suspects were detained on charges of possession of suspected hijacked motor vehicle and will appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates’ Court during the week.
