SOUTH AFRICA - ESKOM UNDERTAKES MAINTENANCE OVER EASTER WEEKEND AND NO LOAD SHEDDING EXPECTED

Power utility Eskom will undertake maintenance of its power generation plants over the Easter weekend. This is in preparation for the winter season when electricity will be in high demand. Eskom has not had any load shedding for over seven months now.

Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says no load-shedding is expected during maintenance.

This is the continuation of what we have been doing all along. We have been doing a lot of maintenance over the past seven months. We are going to have a last drive what we call maintenance festival this coming long weekend. In fact it started last weekend but  going to continue this weekend," says Phasiwe.

He adds,"We are going to do as much maintenance as possible so that when companies come back in April ,we do have the machines that are available and ready to meet the demands."
