A 23-year-old man from Willowvale was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape and a further four years for the theft of a motor vehicle, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.
Siyanda Ndube of Mhlanga Village in Willowvale, was convicted and sentenced by the Willowvale Regional Magistrate’s Court, provincial police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said.
“He was found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman on the 10 July 2011 at Willowvale,” said Manatha.
Manatha said, Ndube forced his way into the homestead of the victim, after which he dragged her into the garden and raped her.
In addition to the 10 year sentence for rape, a four-year sentence was added for the theft of a motor vehicle he had stolen on September 11, 2013 in Mthatha.
