GELVANDALE - 7 ARMED MEN OPEN FIRE AND KILL 17 YEAR OLD IN OPEN FIELD

On Wednesday, 13 July 2016 at about 15:00, a 17-year-old youth and two friends were sitting near an open field against a wall near Van Duuren Street, Gelvandale when they were approached by seven males who opened fire, fatally wounding the 17-year-old.

About 30 minutes after the incident, members of the Visible Gang Intervention Team (VGIT) were patrolling the immediate vicinity looking for the suspects and arrested four suspects in Malabar ext 5. The suspects, aged between 22-24 years old, were arrested and detained on a charge of murder. They are expected to appear in court soon
