PORT ELIZABETH - ARMED ROBBERS CAUGHT AFTER HIGH SPEED CHASE IN HIJACKED TAXI

Yesterday Port Elizabeth Flying Squad responded to a complaint of armed robbery.

The vehicle used by the alleged robbers was spotted on the M4 freeway.

A chase ensued leading them towards Motherwell.

Suspects started shooting at the police and the members retaliated. They shot the wheel out on the taxi causing it to loose control. Suspects jumped from the taxi and continued shooting at the members.
 One suspect was shot. Others managed to flee.

It was established that the taxi used in the Robbery was hijacked and the driver (victim) was found lying on the back seat of the taxi with his hands tied together.

Suspect taken to hospital and is under police guard. A case of business robbery, hijacking and attempted murder has been registered at Mount Road SAPS.
