EASTERN CAPE - TRAGEDY STRIKES AS 2 BOYS PERISH AFTER THEIR HOME BURNS

Centane Police have opened an inquest docket after a shack caught fire on Monday, 10 June 2019 at about 22h00 at Khabakazi Locality, Tafalofefe Village, Centane. It is alleged that a woman left two boys aged seven (7) and twelve (12) on Monday, 10 June 2019 at about 22h00.

She was informed that the shack was on fire and she rushed to her shack in the early hours of Tuesday, 11 June 2019. Both boys were rushed to Tafalofefe Hospital and it was confirmed on arrival that the 7-year-old boy had passed away. The 12-year-old boy passed away on Wednesday, 12 June 2019.

The cause of the fire is not known as Centane Police are still investigating. It is also not clear at this point in time if the boys were brothers as investigation is still underway. Police are also investigating why the boys were left alone in the shack.
